Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Special Games! We are expecting two fun days of non-competitive sports and games for community members with disabilities. This year's theme is Into the Jungle as we celebrate how every athlete, every coach, and every volunteer is stronger when we work together!

This year, Practice Day will be held on March 15th from 9am-12pm and BIG Day will be on March 22nd from 9am-2pm.

We are in need of:

Coaches (Athletes are matched with volunteer coaches)--must be available for the full shift on both days. *Highest need*
Event support (logistic support)--can decide between one or both days.

All Volunteers will be invited to a virtual volunteer orientation and will be sent the recording to watch before the event.

Coach Responsibilities:

Must be available March 9th from 8am-12pm and March 16th from 8am-2pm.
You will be paired with an athlete for the day and will join them in participating in the games and activities of their choice on Sunken Gardens.
Encourage positive sportsmanship and participation.
Explaining and adapting games and activities for your athlete as requested by the athlete.
Be flexible, allow athletes to engage with the activities as they choose so as long as all involved remain safe.
Additional training may be required under the LMU Risk Management policy.

Event Support Responsibilities:

Can volunteer for either or both days (March 9th from 8am-12pm and/or March 16th from 8am-2pm)
Assist with tasks such as greet and guide athletes, check in athletes, distribute lunch and t-shirts
Option to staff an activity booth
